American AMP first opened its doors in 1993 as Rude Entertainment. It was founded by Rudy Chavarria, Jr. on a shoestring budget. Rudy first began his career as a studio runner and assistant back in 1987 at the world-famous A&M Studios (now the Jim Hansen Studios) in Hollywood, California. It was there that Rudy learned the ropes as a recording engineer by working closely with acclaimed engineer Shelly Yaukus (U2, Belinda Carlisle, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, John Lennon and many others). Rudy began working at the prominent Christian record label, Frontline music Group, in promotions and marketing. It was at Frontline where friend and associate Norman Winter of Norman Winter Public Relations (Bob Dylan, Barbara Streisand, Michael Jackson, and Paul Simon) called Rudy and asked if he would be interested in promoting a new Bob Marley CD. Rudy was then introduced to music mogul Danny Sims. Danny, publisher of Cayman Music and then owner of the Bob Marley catalog, interviewed Rudy over the phone and hired him on the spot. Rudy has been Danny’s right-hand man when it comes to college radio, retail, street-team advertising, marketing and promotions. Rudy and his company have gone on to promote and market more than six Bob Marley releases, including four box sets. After mastering the art of promoting and marketing music, Rudy and his company moved on to other projects, which include private colleges, television, motions pictures, magazines, products, food and beverage.
